When you connect an iPhone, iPad, or iPod to your computer, iTunes on Windows or Finder on macOS may automatically sync your device. This can overwrite changes you made in iMazing, particularly for music and media management.
On Windows, you can disable automatic syncing globally for all devices. On macOS, since Catalina, you can only disable it on a per-device basis.
Disable automatic syncing for all devices (Windows only)
- Open iTunes.
- In the menu bar, select Edit > Preferences.
- Click the Devices tab.
- Check Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically.
- Click OK.
Disable automatic syncing for a specific device
On macOS
- Connect your device to your Mac via USB.
- Open Finder and select your device in the sidebar.
- Click the General tab.
- Under Options, uncheck Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected.
- Click Apply.
On Windows
- Connect your device to your computer via USB.
- Open iTunes and click the device button near the top left of the window.
- In the left sidebar, select Summary.
- Under Options, uncheck Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected.
- Click Apply.
Tip: If you use iMazing to manage music, avoid using iTunes or Finder to sync media at the same time. An iTunes or Finder sync will overwrite changes made in iMazing.
