iOS Update/Reinstall: "cannot copy preflight options" errors

Issue

The following error message appears while updating or reinstall your device's iOS:

cannot copy preflight options

iOS updates and reinstalls are mostly handled by Apple drivers on your computer and the device itself. This error occurs when those drivers are missing, outdated, or corrupted.

Solution
